Refugee Lives: Reporting from Camps

I just came across a fascinating student project called Refugee Lives. It looks like students from Northwestern University traveled to 3 different refugee camps, recorded video, interviewed people in the camps, took pictures, wrote essays and news stories. Amazing experience for the students, I imagine, and great collection of stories and news from places seldom in the news.  Nothing much seems to happen in a refugee camp–purgatory for 5, 10, 15, 20 years–so the camp(s) don’t make the headlines.  But of course lots of things happen in a refugee camp.  The Malawi video I watched profiled to dance and rap groups–young men trying to fill their days with meaningful activities, trying to bring hope and happiness to the other people in the camp.  Must return to this site at a later date!
